Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great glass in a small package I've used these, and their big brother in 42mm. I'll grab these 9 times out of ten for hunting blacktail in the pacific northwest (though I leave them behind when I head to mule deer country)... Yes, I use them for glassing across the odd cutback, but I mainly use them for picking apart the timber, slowly scaling through the focal range to isolate different planes. In the thick woods, it's not a distance game - no real need for a bigger set-up - it's a patience game. These fit the bill nicely. The cons, which must be taken with a grain of salt given the price-point and size, is that they are soft around the edges, and a locking diopter would be nice. The next price-point solves these, so I'm not complaining!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clear view I picked these up about two years ago and am pressed with the glass. They replaced some fulfills Burris I have and I have compared them side by side with a friends lieca 10x25's and another's leupy wind river 10x42's. They compare favorably especially considering the price. The focus adjustment could use some work to be really top notch. They steer like my old ford truck, as long as you are used to waving the wheel while you drive, they drive fine. Get in another vehicle though and watch out. Pack small, nice Cary case/ storage case, lots of bang for the buck!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good optics! I purchased the Diamondback binoculars as a replacement for an older set of compact binoculars that I use primarily bow hunting, but also use in my lightweight rifle hunting pack. I have been extremely pleased with the optical clarity of these binoculars. They outperform the much more expensive set they replaced. They are small enough they never get in the way. They are as clear as many larger sets I own. They have never fogged in any conditions. I am very pleased with the purchase and I would recommend them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight, doesn't compromise view I've been using these 8x32's for birding for around 2 years now. I see no difference between these the 8x42. They are somewhat comparable to other binocular brands in low light conditions, but I do find myself wishing for something better just before dark when looking for owls. All in all I use them in the field working as an ornithologist, and while hiking. The trade-off in weight is well worth it in my opinion, especially on long days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional quality and value I bought this pair before the past hunting season. Used primarily for bow hunting white tails. I don't like being weighted down with too much gear, so I was really happy to find light weight binoculars that fit my needs. They have a good clear view and no problems with fog or moisture. This was my first purchase from Vortex. I chose Vortex over other brands because of warranty and trust that other hunters I know have in them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I had another pair. I use these currently for glassing fields for turkeys and deer. View is crystal clear through these, could look through em all day. Case is nice. Perfect size. Work great in low light. Only complaint and it's really only a nitpick is the lens covers on the front easily come off and ive lost one because of that. Maybe if a groove was on place so the rubber slipped into a slot and couldn't just slide right off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for their size. I tried the diamondback 10x42, 8x42, and 8x32s and the clear winner for my 54 year old eyes were the 8x32s, I have been getting prepared for elk hunting in CO., the light weight and clear FOV is all I need, these a re a great value and pack a big punch for their small size. Very satisfied and how about that warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy these again. Purchased these binoculars for archery hunting. Great glass and clarity. They work much better than the compact ones I used previously. They are a bit larger, but field of view and brightness make up for that. Customer service at Vortex recommended this model and it has proved to be right for me.

There is a neck strap included with your binoculars that will hold the rainguard, but you can attach it to any strap or harness.

Is there any difference between the 2015 &/or 2016 model of the 8 x 42 diamondback? Is there a 2017?
Asked by: cj
There is a difference between the 2015 and 2016 models, but it is mostly cosmetic and the performance should be very similar.
