HSR-4 Reticle (MOA)

The HSR-4 Reticle (MOA) is an ideal reticle for those who want enough information to utilize personalized ballistics, but prefer a clean look. A fine crosshair, coupled with MOA based hash-marks (2 MOA spacing), promotes fast and accurate shots from close to extended ranges.

Subtension detail for Razor HD LH 3-15x42 riflescope with HSR-4 MOA reticle.>

Note
Read the Razor HD LH - HSR-4 (MOA) Reticle manual for details on how to effectively determine range, holdover, windage and moving lead corrections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Vortex offering I'm a fan of the Razor LH series from Vortex. I originally purchased a 2-10 model and liked it so much I purchased a 3-15x42 as well. I went with the HSR reticle in the 3-15 and the G4 in the 2-10. G4 is simple and fast, the HSR has more to it but the thin center crosshair keeps it open and doesn't obstruct the target. Reticles is one area that Vortex seems to have the upper hand on their competition. The scope has very minimal tunneling, is lightweight, has great glass and is is covered by the best warranty. Only downside is the mushy turrets, I expected a little better. I'm assuming it was made this way to keep the weight down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressive! This scope is amazing for it's size! It now sits on my 16" .308 HBAR AR-10. I wanted a compact scope with higher than 10x power yet wanted to retain a 3x field of view......this 3-15x is perfect. I did not want tall turrets on this rifle and love the HSR Reticle for hold-over. This is a heavy rifle and did not need to add a heavy scope! You have to look through this scope to be sold on it......no fancy bells or whistles. The capped turrets are nice and the sun shade is just long enough to work well. I passed on a Leupold 4.5-14x50 LRT for this scope and I'm glad I did.....no comparison on clarity or brightness. Thanks Vortex......love the HD Razor Glass!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortex success Used this on Colorado mule deer hunt on public land this year. Really like the reticle. I hunt in multiple elevations with different handloads depending on what im hunting. The simple HSR-4 MOA reticle is much easier to use with a range card taped to your stock than their standard BDC reticle. I would like Vortex to come out with more options for hunting scopes with this type of reticle, maybe add an exposed turret on top. Either way, great scope. Clear, holds zero, lightweight. Killed a big mulie at 325 yds with about 10 minutes of shooting light left. Very difficult to find any optics that combine the weight, reticle and clarity in a hunting scope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top quality glass I own two of the 3-15x42 HD LH with the G4 BDC reticles. Optical clarity and light transmission of these scopes is fantastic. Quality glass ranks first with me over features but a 1/4 MOA exposed elevation turret would be a nice feature on this scope. However, this scope tracks true using the covered turrets. The G4 BDC reticle is simple to use in the field and draws the shooter to a central point of aim in low light conditions. I've compared it to other scopes of equal and greater value and the Razor HD LH comes out on top in clarity and light transmission. I actually parted with another well known 3-15x42 HD model scope because it was not as good as the Razor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problem eye relief. Fuzzy at 15x Let me premis this by saying I love Viortex. I have three Viper HS scopes and my binos are Vortex. As a matter of fact, I sold my Leupod and Nikon scopes because I love Vortex. This scope however, I do not. I stepped up to the Razor thinking it'd be better than my Vipers. But no matter how hard I try, I can't get the eye relief to work. The scope is as far forward as it will go and all I get is a huge black shadow with a tiny crosshair if I can find it. I need to place my cheek all the back to the recoil pad. And at 15x, it's super fuzzy. Even after maxing out the parallax adjustment. At 10 power it's great. I should have bought the 10 ILO the 15.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3-15x42 HSR-4, great product Best way i can describe this scope is an impressive minimalist design. The glass provides a remarkably sharp and clear image at longer distances with its HD coatings and solid low light performance. Field of view is perfect for hunting situations, coupled with the very forgiving eyebox design. The turrets do not have very tactile clicks, and feel a bit mushy, however i do acknowledge they are not target knobs. After box testing the scope and running it through its paces, it is consistent and repeatable. I have dialed up to distances of 800 meters and feel confident in them. The parallax adjustment is easy to manipulate without feeling the need for chanel lock pliers to turn it. Same can be said for the mag adjustment ring. Last but not least, the hsr 4 reticle. It is a great reticle due to being clean and simple. This from someone who normally shoots mrad ffp scopes. Thank you Vortex for another great product offering and listening to the needs of customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, clear glass. Great lightweight hunting scope with clear glass. In an attempt to reduce overall pack and rifle weight this year I got the Razor HDLH and mounted it on a Tikka T3 rifle. Because I hunt big country I went with a magnum caliber and the 3-15x scope. At the range I removed the turret caps and alternated 0 moa(100yds) and 10.5 moa (600yds) shots. When checking both targets the rifle grouped at both 100 and 600 yds, telling me the turret tracks pretty true and are repeatable. Wasn't sure what to think of the reticle at first, but have come to really like it for hunting. Only thing I would change, since I use the turrets to dial up elevation frequently, would be to have each click feel more "positive" or "crisp". Right now the turret feels a little "mushy" to me. That being said, the turrets do dial up elevation repeatably as stated above. Glass is clear, reticle is uncluttered, size and weight are ideal for hunting, price is right, design is basic leaving little to get hung up on clothing or your pack. Very nice scope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from By far, my favorite Vortex piece. I purchased the Razor HD LH 3-15×42 for my Kimber Mountain Ascent. Trying to keep weight down, I figure it would be a great option at 16.5oz. The level of quality was perfect; unexpected out of such a light scope. I was also worried about the 1" tube and the amount of light transmission. I have scopes with larger tubes that view a lot darker. I have since bought another, and have convinced two fellow hunters that they need one. 100% impressed.

Thank you Josh! On the 1" precision matched rings for the Fierce Edge CT, which height to get lowest possible mounting without touching barrel with this scope?

Asked by: wjmish1
You're very welcome! The 1" are only offered in .76" height so those should work well for your setup on a one piece picatinny rail!

I have the Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15x42 going on a Fierce Edge CT in 300 win mag. Want to use the provided Fierce scope mount base, and a set of your Hunter rings to keep things light. Also want to keep it low as possible. Which rings do I use, med or high?

Asked by: wjmish1
I would recommend the 1 inch Precision Matched Rings for that optic and caliber. They only weigh 1.4 oz each and will serve your setup far better than the Hunter rings!

Will my parallax for my scope be off if I am sighting in at 100 yards and the side focus is set at 75-80? Will it throw off my aim/ point of impact?

Asked by: Eddie Mac
Thanks for the question! The parallax adjustment is just a focusing tool. As long as you are getting behind the center of your scope and not seeing the shift, it doesn't matter where it is lined up. It will not change your point of impact.
