Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for varmint rifle I bought this for sale at Woods n Water after my first choice, the Strikefire, was sold out. My AR is built for quick shots on hogs, coyotes and other undesirable animals. This optic is great for that. It was also accurate enough for 150 yard shots. My only complaint is that the lense caps don't pop open, but have to be locked together. This is more of a inconvenience than an actual problem, so still 5 stars. The "glob" people complain about doesn't take up hardly any of the sight picture and is there for some reason, so it doesn't bother me. It takes AAA batteries, which is great. Great optic

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Run this on my work rifle The original Sparc was my first Vortex product and the Sparc AR was a great upgrade to it. I've been running this optic on my work rifle for years and it has stood up very well. I've been in torrential downpours for hours and never seen any fogging or water inside the optic. It's received a beating in takedowns, entries, and in training and has always held zero. I've seen some reviews about the LED housing blocking the view, but I've never noticed it at all. The fact that it takes readily available AAA batteries is a deal maker! The price point also makes it hugely attractive to the average buyer. I currently have 3 or 4 on miscellaneous rifles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HOLY QUICK ACQUISITION BATMAN This thing is insane for going target to target. Nice vivid dot shows in any condition. It takes a AAA battery so its easy to change and convenient no need for silly button batteries or 123a's. It has a rubberized coating that cleans up nice with just a tad of oil. The lens covers snap together to stay up and out of the way but can easily be put back on quickly. I bought this and place it on my Kriss Vector and it is incredible. First outting took about 3 shots to Zero then rest was history. I have already sent close to 400rds down range and it hasn't moved a tad off of Zero.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My EoTech is grainy, this is not. Bought this a few months ago for a new dedicated .22 build. Let's just say the EoTech stays at home. My glob doesn't get in the way, honestly I can't see it while looking down sights. I don't know what other people are talking about not taking it past 50 yards. Shot it out to 100 with a .22lr and was hitting bullseyes in the small 4 corner circles on a sighting target. Honestly I couldn't see the tiny diamonds and I had help from a friend and a spotting scope, but the middle one wasn't too bad to see. At 50 yards, it was too easy. Don't waste your money on "expensive" brands unless your active duty and climbing through war daily. For home defense and the range, it's a keeper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Red Dot!!! I've been using this red dot sight for 6 months now and it has performed flawlessly. The dot is crisp and clear. I've put hundreds of rounds through my AR and the sight is still holding zero perfectly. I like the fact it takes a normal battery. On top of everything it's lightweight and looks wicked cool. My only grip would be that the caps are kind of clumsy to open and stick together. It's a nice feature that they hook together, but in a crisis situation I'd see myself fumbling with them for a few seconds before I could get on target. Very minor though. Buy the sight, you won't be sorry!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW! To me the name "Vortex" is translated to "Can't get any better". This is my second Vortex optic and by all means I am once again impressed. Right out of the box you can feel and see the quality of the Sparc AR. It preforms as advertised. Once it was zeroed in, 50yrd groups were in the sub 2 inch range. @100yds spot on as well. Not 2" groups but I didn't expect precision out that far, but definitely hitting pop can groups. I would recommend the Sparc AR all day. The price is a lot lower than it should be, for the quality of the optic. Vortex has a lifetime customer here!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely Designed Red Dot I have been using this red dot on my AR for several months now and it has function well for me. The 2 MOA dot is a good compromise to quickly obtain close in targets and still have decent accuracy at 100+ yards. I like the use of the high mount space to house the battery. Using the common aaa battery is another plus and the automatic shut off feature is also nice. The integrated mount is solid and holds well. The snap together lens caps took a little getting used to but I now really like that feature. All and all this is a well designed red dot site at a very competitive price in a very competitive market. I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What a Let Down... Just got this in the mail today. Like a kid on Christmas I opened it right away. Instantly, I thought I had a blemished product because of the glob of plastic inside the tub on the bottom right, shown in picture. I called Vortex and they confirmed this is actually part of the design. See my other picture of the reticle on the box, it shows an unobstructed complete circle. Yes, I have to say it, this is false advertising. Another complaint, the "bra/lens cap system" doesn't seem like it would work long term. I would end up taking this off. I'm sure the optic will perform fine. I have other Vortex optics that I am happy with. The slightly obstructed view on this optic is a deal killer for me.

what is the temp range on these spare ARs? im looking to mount one on my hunting shotgun and i leave it in my vehicle over night sometimes and when im hunting the temps get down to 10* and lower

Asked by: nedge762
They are rated for -4 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit so as long as it's within that range you shouldn't have an issue.

New shopper...new AR Owner, flat top, no iron sights. Struggling to figure out how to decide between the Spitfire II, the SPARC AR and the Crossfire. I'll definitely add a magnifier...any help?

Asked by: Andy
Awesome, thanks for reaching out! Well, unfortunately I don't recommend any of those optics with the use of our magnifier due to their short focal lengths, and one is a prism scope. I suggest checking out the Strikefire II which works great with the magnifier. Please give us a call with 800-426-0048 Ext. 5 if you would like to discuss this further, thanks!

If used in combination with magnifier I see it can cause vertical parallax what exactly does that mean. If you could explain it would be appreciated thank you.

Asked by: Kcgav4377
Thanks for the question! Vertical parallax is the optical illusion of parallax on the vertical plane. What this means is if you are not perfectly aligned behind the center of your optic, the red dot may appear to be covering something that is not the actual point of aim and cause you to miss.

Thanks for the question! The SPARC AR can be used at a variety of ranges. If you are looking for a zeroing distance, I would recommend zeroing at 50 or 100 yards.

Will the red dot lose zero when I have to change batteries?

Asked by: Ed21
No, it should not lose your zero. However, I always recommend verifying your zero after changing to make sure.

What do I need to mount the Vortex Optics Sparc AR Red Dot - 2 MOA Dot to a Benjamin Marauder PCP Air Pistol .22? It has an 11mm dovetail mount. Thank you!

Asked by: CalCanada
You would need to equip your air rifle with a Pictinny rail for proper mounting.
