Spitfire™ AR Prism Scope

Built from the ground up specifically to maximize the quick-handling performance of AR-platform rifles, Vortex’s new Spitfire™ AR 1X prism scope delivers incredible optical quality and ultra-fast functionality in a lightweight, streamlined package. The generous, parallax-free, sight picture and forgiving eyebox gets shooters on target effortlessly—even in high-stress scenarios.

Rear facing power and illumination intensity controls are easy to access, simple to operate, stay visually present from the shooting position and are protected from incidental contact. Twelve intensity levels let you adjust to perfectly match ambient light conditions. Runs off a single, common, AAA battery. The DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle is etched directly on the prism to assure consistent point-of-aim at all times— regardless of whether or not the illumination is engaged. An additional yardage-marked turret cap (ballistic-matched to the 5.56 cartridge) allows the shooter to swap out the factory-installed cap for rapid dialing of known-distance shots out to 700 yards.

At 11.2 ounces, the lightweight Spitfire AR excels in close to medium range shooting applications where speed is of the essence, making it the ideal choice for AR shooters who needs to get on target fast. Prism Scopes are not compatible with the VMX-3T Magnifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is it baby! I bought the Vortex Spitfire AR to replace, well everything else I have had in a red dot. My Eotech, Meprolight, Aimpoint and Leupold Firedot, all flared up in my vision. As I got older the red dots got less defined and at 100 yards are larger than my target. The Spitfire AR is sharp, quick to acquire and has all the features I've been looking for. The only thing that could make it better is a motion on activator. As for tactical use, the reticle can be seen from both ends of the optic. But unless I plan to do battle, this is not an issue for me. The Spitfire AR has also been a hit at my gun club. Thanks guys for making a dot us older shooters can enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't be more satisfied. So for starters, the lens is ridiculously clear. You accidentally bump your rifle or drop it? Your zero is staying exactly where it was. It's definitely durable. Love how if the battery dies(should last you a long time), you'll still have a black reticle because it's etched in the glass. It won't fog up on you like those cheap brands. Really easy to zero. You get exactly what you pay for when you buy a Vortex optic... quality and durability yet very reasonably priced. Stop wasting your money on those expensive name brands when you can pay less and get the same quality. Thinking about buying one? Pull the trigger already. You won't regret it one bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbeatable value for the price and performance! Had a SPARC II but I have astigmatism and issues focusing on red dot. It also had way too much parallax. Returned that red dot scope and tried this one. Works perfectly, the reticle draws immediate attention for fast acquisition and my eyes can focus on it without a problem. Absolutely no parallax and it only took 8 shots to get the scope zeroed in with my rifle. Regarding the rifle, I have a Ruger AR556 with a fixed A2 front sight post. This scope is 40mm high so it makes the A2 sight as lower 1/3 co-witness. You lose focus of that and the entire A2 sight is blurred out. So that is not a concern at all. I actually picked this over the EOTech 512 for CQB self defense situations. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Pleased Just recieved my Spitfire AR today. I've had the Sparc II since they came out and would not trade it for a Gold Monkey. I love it. However, over time the dot would look like a starburst or comet tail to these old eyes. The Spitfire AR solved this problem for me. As quick as the Sparc II is to get on target, for me the Spitfire AR is quicker. Once focused, rectical is very clear and crisp with red or green as well when turned off. The etched rectical is clear as a bell. The Spitfire AR cannot be beat at this price point. Another great product from the people at Vortex.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just WOW! Decided to quick stop by the range on my way into work and sight in my new Spitfire Prism AR on my .223 JP Rifle. Got there to realize I forgot to bring the ammo can along, so I just had a full 20-round magazine that I pre-loaded with Federal American Eagle 55-grain ammo. After spending about 12 rounds to dial it in at 100 yards, I dialed in the 200 yard mark on the turret cap and was immediately on target with a 4-inch steel plate. Having only 5 rounds left, I decided to dial it up to the 400 yard mark and try it at the 400 yard steel targets. All 5 rounds made a hit on the 400 yard 14-inch steel plate. I was so impressed that I called in late for work and ran back home to get more ammo. I hope the boss doesn't see this post.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1 bullet 1 kill great red dot. I used a friends red dot for hunting wild pig. The pig was on the run and I was chasing him he turned to the right just a little and I dropped the red dot right on his heart and he dropped. It was simply perfect. So I just purchased a new spitfire AR1 and took it to the range to sight it in. I am not a professional. After 6 rounds I was dialed in and was 10 for 10 bulls-eye at 25 yards and 9 out of 10 at 50 yards. Great performance. I am a true believer in red dots now. Quick reaction time. I can't wait to take this Spitfire on my next hunt. In the mean time it secures my house. Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick target acquisition and holdover I have purchased three of these: two for close-quarters AR and PCC and one as a gift for a special somebody. Easy to zero, and I can use the outer circle as a hold-over guide. The red/green color option rocks as does the etched reticle. Works for stigmatism or when I accidentally put a used battery in it, I still have a crisp reticle -oh and I accidentally dumped a bottle of Lucas Oil on it while oiling my gun on a stage. I got the oil off and shot a star off-handed. The top was loose. I have witnesses

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product and do recommend it to friends. Something that stood out about this optic to me was I once dropped it of the side of a cliff/mountain trail in the North Cascades and I recovered it. Re applied it. And it shot perfect. Held zero great. By the way it came dead on out of the box shooting 2-3 MOA with no adjustments made at all. I love that it's NOT DEPENDENT ON BATTERIES. It's tough. It's easy to use. It performs with high quality. I attached a picture of the mountain it fell down. (There was no snow when I dropped it.)

Is there enough eye relief to run a magpul rear folding BUIS with this optic? Just my opinion but all rifles need those no matter what kind of optic is riding on your rifle. Thanks for your time in any reply.

Asked by: Gregc
This optic has a 3.8" eye relief, so if you run your stock collapsed there should be enough room. I will warn you that you will not be able to use your iron sights through the Spitfire AR however because it works like a magnified optic which will distort your iron sights.

Hi - I am wondering if there is a QD mount you recommend for the Spitfire 1x AR Prism Scope.....Thanks

Asked by: Trav
Our new Spitfire AR prism scopes have the mount integrated and the bottom cannot be removed. If you have an older version of the Spitfire AR you can get a QD mount from www.americandefensemanufacturing.com.

I have parallax after 100-150 yards. Scope is great 0-100. Why am I experiencing parallax? I do not want this product. Yes, I know what I'm doing and have some of your other products. I want to exchange this scope.

The center of the reticle appears to have filled in. The inside ring is more than half covered. This happened in storage. I am confused as to how this could happen to etched glass?

what are the differences between spitfire AR vs spitfire x1 ?

Asked by: summit425
The Spitfire AR has the riser and mount integrated into the optic which allowed us to put the electronics in the riser so the controls are below the ocular lens and it takes a AAA battery instead of a CR2032 battery.

I was hoping this may work for both eyes open as 1x. After mounting and adjusting the focus, it looks like the image is 1:1 or close, however, the entire image is shifted up slightly. Is this normal or potential issue?

Asked by: tedb
This is most likely because the optic is not zeroed. If you are still seeing this issue after zeroing the optic give us a call at 800-426-0048 ext 5 and we can discuss further.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortex Spitfire - Fast Target Acquisition when you need it. The Vortex Spitfire was selected for the AR-15 because it is co-witnessed with the iron sights for redundancy, accuracy and reliability. Should the battery fail, the reticle image is etched on the optic, thus providing reliability in a tactical situation. A nitrogen filled chamber prevents lens fogging throughout whatever environment the weapon is utilized. Finally, Vortex product support is outstanding. Buy it, try it and you will be impressed.
