VMX-3T Magnifier

Simple, fast, effective—the VMX-3T Magnifier will work with any of our red dots but it is not recommended for use with the prism scopes. The push-button design of the VMX-3T engages and disengages the flip-mount, allowing the magnifier to lock in place. The result, 3x magnified or unmagnified views at will. Optics are fully multi-coated for optimal light transmission. Lightweight and tough; hard-coat-anodized machined-aluminum construction ensures durability. Internally nitrogen purged for reliable waterproof/fogproof performance. Ultimate magnified versatility for virtually any AR-height red dot sight.

Note
Allows for lower 1/3 or absolute co-witness mounting heights and is ideal for shooters who want to increase the effective range of their red dot sight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great magnifier! The VMX-3T is a solid addition to a red dot like the SPARC. It has amazing clarity and really helps make those longer range or precision shots. It changes the balance of the rifle slightly, but I find that the benefit of having the magnifier outweigh the somewhat cumbersome nature. This accessory would be a solid five-stars but for two minor complaints: 1)it flips to the left and obstructs my non-dominant eye and 2) I wish the base had a QD option for easier on and off functionality. But neither of those are deal breakers, and for the price point it's hard to complain about such a great optic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Versatility Added to Rifle I purchased this to place in front of the Sparc AR red dot sight. This magnifier adds great versatility to my rifle, it allows me to identify targets at a farther range and have me accurate shot placement. This does add a bit of weight to the rifle, but it the mount can be easily removed if I only want to shoot with the red dot. The only flaw that I see with this product is that it flips to the left side, obstructing my view as I am a right eye dominant shooter, I fixed this by swapping the side that the magnifier sits on the mount, this is quite easy, but puts the flip to side button of the mount on the back side of it instead of the front. Overall it's a great product and I don't mind the button on the backside, but a small improvement could be made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid optic I wanted to have a rifle suited for quick, close targets as well as the option to reach out ~300 yards. The flip-to-side mount included with this optic makes it simple to swap between magnified and un-magnified use. Eye relief, as with all magnifiers, is fairly short, but definitely usable. I have this mounted in front of my flip up BUIS which means my nose is nearly touching my charging handle, but this has yet to be an issue. Clarity is great and it's definitely rugged. If I were to set this rifle up again, I'd probably buy a Strike Eagle like I have on my other rifle, but for a quick addition to add magnification to a red dot, you can't go wrong with this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great magnifier, terrible rye relief. Like all other vortex products, the VMX-3t is great quality. The magnifier actually makes the dot on my red dot even crisper. In the futer I’d like to see them go to maybe a 4x magnification, though. However, the reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because of the terrible eye relief. I’m not sure why vortex would design this with 2” on eye relief but it almost makes it unusable. With it mounted as far back as possible I still have to stretch quite far to see through the magnifier as intended. I can completely collapsed the but stock and use it which helps but I still have to stretch to get to the magnifier and as well as the fact that I’m using a collapsed but stock. Big time cortex fan but was pretty disappointed with this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great but made for Leftys This magnifier has really sharp glass and is very sturdy. Its nice that it comes with a spacer for 1/3 co witness. The only problem I have is that the mount is made for a left hand shooter. From the factory, the optic is set up to swing to the left. A right hand shooter wants the optic to swing to the right. So if you set up the optic for a right hand shooter, the release button is forward and must be activated with your left hand finger. I hope Vortex comes out with a proper right hand mount. Maybe even offer a trade in program for the mount?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for me !! I like the magnifier I've shot about 1500 rounds with this and I can say I am really impressed . Ive used the higher end magnifiers on friends rifles and I cant really see where the extra money they spent went . I would recommend this to anyone . My only real complaint is it didn't come with caps and its a snug fit with the caps on the strike fire but I really cant take nothing away from it as I think it would compromise the view if was spaced far enough away for caps on both . Thanks Vortex Keep em coming

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very clear. Good magnification This magnifier is very very clear the flip mount is secure and easy to manipulate. I knocked one star off for the eye relief. The eye relief is a very short distance. To get a clear picture I have to have my nose nearly touching the charging handle. It would be a much better magnifier with a longer eye relief. That is my only concern about it otherwise I love the magnifier it works great with my SPARC 2 red dot!!! VORTEX CUSTOMER FOR LIFE. But fix the eye relief. Plan to buy a scope in the near future for my varmint gun will definitely be looking to vortex to fill that need. Thanks for quality products

Is there a quick release mount for the 3x magnifier?

Asked by: Jordan
Thanks for the question! There is no quick release mount for the VMX-3T. However with the the swivel mount that comes with it, you can just rotate it out of the way when not in use.

Hello, i have astigmatism and i experience it with the vortex sparc ar red dot. Would adding this magnifier behind it make the dot look even worse/better/the same?

Asked by: Shields
Thanks for the question! In general, using the magnifier helps with astigmatism because it is another focusing lens. However, every eye is different and can effect every user differently. I would highly suggest trying to find one at a dealer and looking through it with a red dot to see how it effects your eyes.

Will the StrikeFire II and VMX-3T Magnifier work on a AR DMPS 5.56 NATO? If yes, what will the eye relief be?

Asked by: Papachuck
Yes, those two would work well together and on your platform. Well the eye relief for the Strikefire II is unlimited as it's a red dot but the VMX-3T is 2.2 inches!

How would you cerakot it will it withstand the bake process or does a different type need to be used

Asked by: Chocolat33
Thanks for the question! All of our optics are able to be cerakoted. We recommend doing this on a slow bake and at no more than 170 degrees Fahrenheit.
