Breaks Country Elk - Archery Hunt

WHAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT ITEM IN YOUR KIT?

The most important item in my kit is without a doubt my Razor® UHD 8x42 binoculars. They are the perfect magnification to be able to pick up details when glassing while still having a wide field of view. I was hunting in the Missouri River Breaks, which is pretty open country, so being able to look out across a valley and quickly determine if elk were there or not saved me from wasting time where there weren't elk. Another super important piece of gear is my wind-checker. In the breaks, the wind is constantly swirling. I felt like I was checking the wind every five minutes.

WHAT'S THE ONE THING YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO FORGET?

I seem to always forget enough toilet paper...You can never have enough!

DOES ANYTHING IN YOUR KIT HAVE SENTIMENTAL VALUE OR A UNIQUE STORY?

I always bring a toy figurine of Frankenstein from Hotel Transylvania the movie in my hunting pack. My girlfriend at the time (now wife) gave it to me as a joke when we were dating. It fell into my pack before a whitetail hunt and I ended up shooting the biggest buck of my life after that happened. I have carried it with me every since as a good luck charm.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SUPERSTITIONS?

I always have to mention to my hunting partner how "it's all over" or "the woods are so dead right now" before I can kill anything. My buddy and I were talking about how Montana kicked our butt and how the hunt was over the night before I ended up shooting my bull!

IF YOU WERE AN OPTIC, WHICH WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

If I were an optic, I would be the Fury HD® 5000 AB. I like to hunt in a very calculated manner like the AB's solving a ballistic equation.
