Quick-release plate for the Vortex Summit SS Tripod ensures fast attaching and detaching of optics in the field.
Center of the riflescope tube from the top surface of the mount base.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mark G from simple fix I use the SS-P with my razor binoculars and spotting scope. Although I agree the quick release plate needs an alignment pin I found a simple and cheap work around. I took a piece of craft foam (like my wife and kids use for crafts and cards) cut it to shape with a razor and installed it between the release plate and the optic, like a gasket. Then finger tightened the plate. The added friction provided by the foam has kept the plate from loosening or moving. Vortex if you use my work around send me some gear lol.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Hutch from Tripod is awesome, quick release plate sucks. I've had product for over a year. The tripod is great but the quick release plate is no good. It doesn't stay tight on spotting scope base . Eventually falls off if you don't watch it and tighten often. I have tried Loctite and that doesn't seem to help. Optics are awesome I just don't like the release plate.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Spence from Poor design Won't hold your scope or camera from turning. Needs a second pin to prevent rotation. The summitt tripod is great, but the quick release plate isn't so good.

Rated 2 out of 5 by dukkhnter from Like the tripod, but the plate needs an alignment pin SS-P tripod is great, but the plate needs an alignment pin. Always works loose or spins and messes up the rubber on the base. Would love to fine a plate that fits this tripod with the alignment pin. May try and swap the tripod head just because of this plate.

Rated 1 out of 5 by KHeil from Good concept... The plate constantly comes loose and makes me fear I’m going to drop my new scope on the ground. It needs a second screw or a locking washer maybe to keep it on. It’s kind of a bummer when you glass up a nice animal and all of the sudden your scope is jiggling on your tripod because the adapter is loose.

Rated 4 out of 5 by John CZ from Summit Tripod Have had this tripod for a couple of years, have dragged it across Europe with a Canon 5d Mkiii/24-70mm f2.8L ii lens which weighs a ton. The tripod is fast to deploy and is compact and light. Is a bit flimsy but is better than not having one which is usually the case with heavy tripods, they live at home. The accessory plate lets this tripod down a bit, overall though this is a great unit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by bluelinerak from Great fit, needs alignment pin Like others have stated, mount fits perfectly in the tripod making for easy swapping, but will not prevent spinning without the alignment pin. Stripped out my scope trying to keep it from spinning on the mount.
