Robust and definitely worth every penny
I purchased one of these last year for my 34 MOS and to say I’m impressed is an understatement. The optic is extremely compact and light weight, yet feels extremely durable. The red dot is easy to turn on, and there is a large range of brightness settings. In the year + that I’ve owned this, I’ve shot a good amount of rounds and I have yet to replace the battery, so the life there is good as well. I’ve never had a red dot on a pistol before this one, and the product makes it simple to pick up and use, and ultimately makes me a much better shooter. I was looking at the trijicon rmr but I’m very happy I went with vortex.

Some design flaws.
I purchased this to mount on an M&P Performance Center Ported 40 S&W. The optic has to be removed to lock the adjustment screws, due to the suppressor height sights. Was a pain to get it set. The positive is that the sights co-witness with the optic. The Viper would also shut itself off every 5 or 6 rounds. Contacted Vortex and they sent out some battery shims.(Very fast and courteous customer service!) It still kept shutting off after installing the shim. I'd read on some forum that the battery that comes with the optic is a little smaller than standard specs.(?) Replaced it with an Energizer and have had no problems since. Have put around 500 rounds down range with no problems!

Best compact red dot for the money.
My favorite Red Dot. I put the Viper on my FNP 45 Tac and it's great. I ended up getting a 3 MOA Venom for my 22/45 Lite but honestly can't tell the difference in the size of the dot. Ended up going with another Viper I got my FN 509 Tac because I really prefer the Aesthetics of the Viper over the Venom and the taller window. Only drawback is the set screws on the back of it are not accessible because of the location of the rear sight on both the FN pistols. So I just set the set screws just tight enough to put a slight amount of tension and they seem to hold zero just fine.
