Save up for the razor
This is a mediocre spotting scope especially when you consider the price. Compared to a $300 Redfield the viper is clearer and brighter but not by much definitely not $600 better. On 60 power it is very fuzzy you can tell what your looking at but the fine details aren't there. The construction is great it is very solid, I really like the rubber coating as well as the fine and coarse adjustment and the adjustble eye relief is very solid. This is the first vortex product I have bought that I have not been 100% satisfied with. When compared to the razor the difference is very noticible the razor is crystal clear all the way up to 60 power. I will be definitely be trading up to the razor before this hunting season.

Alaska Arctic Grizzly
Hunting in Alaska will put any optic to the test! This past spring we were 120 miles north of the Arctic circle chasing Grizzly. I had my Vortex 20x60x80 and my buddy had his 20x60 Leupold when a bear walked out at 600 yards in the rain..Not knowing if it was a sow or boar... We debated on this for a few mins... I set up the Vortex and extended the tube to cover the rain. In seconds we determined this was a boar and set off on the stalk. 30 mins later he took his first Arctic Grizzly. I have consistently used Vortex Binos and their spotting scope on every hunt here in Alaska. They are the best...nothing can match their customer service as well. Top notch!

This is the brand you want
Me and some buddies started doing long range shooting several years ago. I did a lot of research before buying a scope. I finally made my decision based on customer reviews and the warranty. I bought the viper pst scope. I now have several vortex products. This spotting scope is one of the them, i can see bullet holes from a 243 at 800 yards no problem
