The lightweight Ranger 1500 is an easy to use rangefinder with a clean display and highly intuitive menu that quickly and accurately ranges targets from 9 to 1500 yards. The Primary Horizontal Component Distance (HCD) mode provides an angle–compensated distance reading because we know you don’t always hunt on flat ground.
Three brightness settings coupled with fully multi-coated lenses deliver maximum light transmission and easy viewing in varying light conditions. Add o-ring seals and you get waterproof performance as well. The 1500 can be set to read in yards or meters and is perfect for hunters, target shooters, bowhunters, and other sportsmen who need to know accurate ranges.
The compact lightweight Ranger 1500 fits easily into your pack or can hang around your neck using the included lanyard. The adjustable utility clip works on a belt, pocket, or other flat edged surface for easy access. The clip can be mounted on the right or left side of the unit or completely removed. The Ranger 1500 runs on the common CR2 battery.
The Ranger 1500 uses HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) angle-compensated ranging technology to give bow and rifle shooters the critical distance data needed to make accurate shots.

Long Range Newbie 2I just recently purchased this based on the quality of Optics I also had just recently purchased for my Ruger Precision. (See other Optics review entitled "Long Range Newbie") I own 25 acres (Wooded) in the country and have a small range, but not set up for long distances that the RPR can achieve. (The gun is designed for up to 1600 yards !!!!!) The features are amazing, the clarity is outstanding, but it was the size that just blew me away. Who ever said big things can come in small packages was correct. Counting the Rings and Flip Caps I own 4 products from Vortex, It looks like I'll be a life long customer.

Great optionThis rangefinder was a much needed update on the ranger 1000. Getting rid of the 3 button operation was a HUGE upgrade although the Leupold 1200 still acquires targets faster than the ranger 1500 the gap has been sigfigantly closed the advantage that I would give to the 1500 over the Leupod 1200 or either of the Lecia's is the ruggedness this thing feels like it could take a direct hit from a missile (not recommended) and the pocket clip is as always just unexplainably useful overall a wonderful rangefinder reason for 4 star is target accusation is still lacking behind Leica and Leupold.

Looking for a rangefinder?? This is the one.I recently purchased a Ranger 1500. Let me start by saying the Vortex sales department is awesome and the warranty is rocking. I hunt a vast range of animals using various shooting equipment. I amongst many others put in the research before buying there hunting optics and gear. The last thing you want is the equipment to fail after you put in your time in the chase. If your looking for a rangefinder that can be used for archery and long range hunting or shooting I would give Vortex and this rangefinder the opportunity to prove itself. If your anything like me you won't be let down.
