Designed specifically for the AR platform, the 1x Spitfire combines an impressive array of high-performance features into a rugged, ultra-compact package. When fast target acquisition in close- to medium-range shooting applications is a priority, the Spitfire excels. Laced with advanced features, the sophisticated prism-based design allows for a more compact optical system without sacrificing optical quality. The DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle is etched directly on the prism to assure consistent point-of-aim at all times with selectable red/green illumination of five intensity levels to match specific conditions.
Prism Scopes are not compatible with the VMX-3T Magnifier.
The DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle is designed for rapid shooting at close distances. The dual ring design pulls the eye into instant alignment with the reticle center and target. Etched directly on the prism to assure consistent point-of-aim at all times with selectable red/green illumination of five intensity levels to match specific conditions.

Great optic at any price!I purchased the spitfire 1x in January, I have been using it now for 5 months and I am highly satisfied with my purchase. The etched reticle is crisp and the concentric dual rings draw your eye to the point of aim quickly. I can actually use the optic without illumination really well with moderate lighting. The choice of red or green illumination is great, however I prefer the red. The mount is robust and has not budged a bit. The windage and elevation adjustments are very concise and consistent. I have banged the optic around several times and it has held its zero without fail. I highly recommend this sight!

Functionality exceeds competitionIn my search process for a red dot style optic the spitfire stood out for 2 reasons: 1) the etched reticle gives yoy an advantage in that you're not restricted by a battery, whether having to turn it on or having it lose power, and the clarty when illuminated is noticeably sharper than a reflected sight picture 2) the DRT reticle is a lot easier for your eye to pick up and center on target quickly compared to a single dot Both of these give the spitfire prism a significant advantage over similar available models for the function I was looking for in a close quarters optic for the AR, and I am very satisfied with the purchase. The lifetime warranty when making a significant investment in an optic adds great value when going with Vortex

Not a regular red dotI'm impressed with the clarity, especially for old eyes! It's plenty rugged, but this is not a dot scope. It should be called a 1x rifle scope. It can not be co witnessed and should not be advertised that way. If you focus properly, your front sight is way too blurry to shoot. It also does not zero as co witnessed. If you move the irons to match the scope and take it off, you will not be zero anymore! I called Vortex, and the rep said it was designed as stand alone. You should be up front about that, as most departments require co witnessed dot scopes on patrol rifles. Also in low light, it transmits a lot of light towards the muzzle end.
