Great OpticI purchased this scope for an AR-15 build. I was able to zero the scope using the standard US Army 25 meter zero target. It has been outstanding from 25 meters all the way to 400 meters. Very easy to read and understand the EBR-8 reticle. The clarity is awesome and it has great feel and the quality is great. The First Focal Plane feature is awesome. Making adjustments on the turrets is very easy and precise. The illumination is great, can be easily use with the illumination on or off. This type of performance is often seen on scopes with a much higher price tag. Vortex has hit a homer with scope

Great scope at a great priceI purchased the Strike Eagle 1-8x24 to mount on my IWI using the Vortex Sport cantilever mount. I’m just an average shooter that doesn’t get into the technical stuff when it comes to guns and optics. The most important thing to me is that when I look through my scope I can see my target clearly. The Strike Eagle’s glass has great clarity. And first focal plane makes seeing the reticle easier on my bad eyes when I take the longer shots. Rating at 4 stars only because I haven’t made it to the range with the Strike Eagle yet.
The only negative I have found is that the included flip caps are not the same quality as the Defender flip caps I have purchased for my other Vortex scopes (2 Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 and a Crossfire II 1-4x24). The ocular cover fits loose and wants to slide off the scope when I try to open it. The objective cover has a weak spring that barely gets the cap out of the field of view when open.

Great for the priceThis is probably the best LPVO in this price range. Despite the areas that it could be improved I can't recommend this one enough at this price range.
Benefits:
* Excellent turrets - way better than prior Strike eagles (and comparable alternatives). Very clicky, easy to zero.
* Great BDC reticle
* FFP is a feature I've been waiting for on the strike eagles, so I was very excited to finally get it
Drawbacks:
* Glass is mediocre. Not any better than prior generations or competitors
* Included flip caps don't fit that well. just add some electrical tape to improve the fit.
